Hello,
I've recently bought an old farm house in Scotland and I'm about start some repairs on the roof due to a leak. The house is more than 100 years old and not been maintained very well so its in need of some TLC. The roof hip joints appear to be a single continuous run on concrete/cement which has suffered weather damage; see pictures of damaged and undamage ridge joints below.
Firstly can anyone identify what this type of ridge joint this is and secondly how to repair these or are these better stripped off and replaced by lead or alternative flashings?
The entire house has this type of hip ridges and all others are intact and these are probably original to the house.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Neil.
