Old wiring?

I have just bought a light fitting and fixed it in place. The instruction book ( which is in black and white ) show 3 wires; a striped wire, a light coloured wire and a dark wire. The wires protruding from my ceiling are brown, green and blue. Which corresponds to which??!
Any help would be great
 
It sounds like earth - striped, which should be connected to your yellow and green wire and then phase (old colour red, lighter) and neutral - (old colour black, darker). The new colour for phase is brown and neutral is blue. I'd go ahead with this, but if the fuse blows you know it;s not right!
