hi I have an old wylex cu with push in mcb trip switches and i want to install a new 9.5kw shower, how do i do this? i was thinking about splitting the tales and fitting a small cu just for the shower, what do i need to do this job? thanks
1. Contact your local local authority and tell them you are going to do the work - this work is notifiable. Pay their outrageous fee. Wait for them to see what you are doing in the steps below.
2. Carry out cable calculations
3. Install cable per the calcs in 2
4. Terminate in the appropriate cpd and an RCD (values calculated from
2)
5. Upgrade all earthing
6. Decide if you will provide supplementary bonding in the bathroom or if you will have to comply with 17th edition re circuits in a bathroom all being on an RCD.
7. Call the electricity board so they can break seals on their equipment
8. Install henley blocks
9. Test installation complies with BS7671 using your calibrated test equipment (I'm sure you've got some???)
10. Certify the installation, notify the local authority. Have a cup of tea.
