Hi,

Has anyone got an experience using an reclaimed heavier brick on top of a new lighter weight brick?

Im building a 3m high cavity wall and have laid up to the DPC with 73mm x 100mm extruded engineering bricks. My intention is to now lay the rest of the courses using reclaimed 75mm x 105mm bricks which are heavier and wider. Any worries, thoughts or tips?

Same question applies to using concrete blocks on top of engineering bricks although these are at least 100mm so same depth.

Anything I could do with the lower courses of bricks, use cement rich mortar maybe?

Depending how visible the bit below dpc is you may want to lay the longer bricks with skinny perps to keep the bond. Apart from that minor consideration there are no issues, crack on
