the other option is :

Since you know they were down sizing you thought you'd trick him in to getting drunk while on call and then the company could sack him and save the £20k redundancy they were preparing.

we was speaking about it today, he said he knows he is going to be sacked so to blame him but I havent got that in me, I will accept my fate in telling the truth, if it gets me sacked then that is what happens. I dont need the job but I enjoy it.

be honest. be clear about the impossible situation it put you in and you felt the important thing was to do the job, but that put him in a difficult position and you were stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I was, I acted for the good of both parties, my mate I simply had his back to help him out, the company got their call out done. I was in the middle

yes but humble regret and remorse wins the day..

and you didn't act in good faith

... you were worried that had you not stepped in he might have been desperate, but once you'd stepped in you were stuck.

In my opinion the company is throwing us under a bus, we both do a lot for the company and are the most reliable to go anywhere at the drop of a hat, we never complain but just do it in all weathers.

We both work like donkeys for the company, we are the highest trained to do everything, we dont bother anyone but just get on with it, they ring us at all hours to help them out and we never refuse. Then here we are being put on disciplinarys for acting out of turn.
