Opinions on Vertical Radiators?

I'd heard that it is better to have a radiator under a window as the cold air from the window helps carry the heat into the room by convection or something?
Actually the opposite occurs. Heat travels from hot to a cold. It is a common misconception that you should place a radiator under the window.
This still occurs with new builds probably due to fashion and tradition.
What you are doing is sending most of your heat straight out the cold window.
Ive never put a radiator close to the window in all the houses I've renovated.
To re-qualify "heat travels from a hot source to a cold source"
I.e. from a hot radiator to a cold widow and to the coldest first

10 Years! There is a good chance that he is now divorced and the wife got the house and he is living with his mother or in a bedsit.

Just making a point on the subject. I realise it was ten years ago. Yove read it again.
Yes he may have gone but the other plumbers may still be around.
