After initial verification,

Dead Tests
Continuity of protective conductors
Continuity of ring conductors
Insulation Resistance
Polarity

Live tests
Polarity
Earth Electrode if fitted
Earth fault loop impedance
Prospective fault current
Functional testing

thanx for the quick answer do you know any websites i could learn what those tests are, how to do them and why and all that kind of info thanx for any help

They are explained in the on site guide or guidance note 3, do you own the required testers and are confident in their use and interpereting the test results? If not I'd strongly urge you to have an electrician do the work. Replacing a CU is notifiable to your LABC under part p.

iam not doing any testing iam just learning how to test for my own benefit because iam thinking about going college to be a spark but i wanna learn as much as i can before i go to get a head start

There is new book on the market called "Part P Doctor" (available from Amazon.co.uk) which may be of interest to you. Other than that you are looking at books like BS7671:2001, the OSG and GN3 which are a bit more technical.
