It's hard to judge from a photo, but I'd suggest that this beam...
...has a lot less than 50% of its original strength.
Plus it looks weird and the design is a recipe for more rot in future. Olden days wood was pretty dense and tough, if you replace that with modern fast-grown wood it will last about a fortnight, even with some preservative.
