I am about to install the cable for an outside light. I am able to come though the wall where I want the light, so no external runs etc needed. Can I use normal T&E???

Might be better in flex. Cable entry into the fitting will be easier.

depends on the fitting..

if it's a bulkhead and you will be comming back entry straight into the fitting, then T+E is ok,..

if it's a PIR floodlight, then flex is needed as T+E will most likely not go through the gland, and if it does, then it will certainly not be waterproof as you're tightening a round rubber seal onto and oval cable..
