Hi

I'm trying to find a direct replacement outdoor socket. Will the current ones that I find online be suitable? I'm mainly concerned that the centres of the knockouts are the same distance apart. 7cm in this case - see photos.

The one I have currently is IP56. Most I've found online are IP66. Is that more common these days?

Been looking at this:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-maste...-weatherproof-outdoor-unswitched-socket/91361

and

https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-...-outdoor-switched-wi-fi-extender-socket/767hv

which interestingly has a WiFi extender!

The existing socket does not have an RCD and is not switched.

Thanks
Mike

Ah, I haven't tried eBay yet. I'll keep looking.

The problem with the current one is that the front section is not securely attached to the back section because three of the small brass 'ferrules' have come away. The plastic around them has disintegrated.

Thanks

Does the virus render them ineffective?
The fact that BS 7288 clearly states that they do not provide additional protection renders them useless to provide additional protection. This is precisely why BS 7671 does not authorise the devices to provide additional protection.

Sorry dont know why it posted 3 times...but this shows you can use SRCD's This was taken from the NICEIC magazine
