my porch light needs replacing and im undecided what to do regarding new light. Have seen a light in both polycarbonate and die cast ally and cant decide what is better. Only few quid difference but dont know what's better

what would you guys choose

cheers

whats better visually though? I just imagine the polycarbonate ones will just flap about in the wind (not literally flap though LOL) but just wont be as sturdy.

Has any1 fitted one before?

Obviously the die cast fitting will be less flimsy, but it may also be susceptible to corrosion in the future if the paint comes away. If it's only a matter of a couple of quid difference in price then get whichever fitting you prefer aesthetically, as if there was a clear difference in quality between the two products, you probably wouldn't be here asking the question.

Polycarbonate, as most of the metal ones I have seen installed on houses are corrosion city.

I have a low energy polycarbonate fitting in a location that has frequent storms in the winter and is no more than about 20m from the sea. It's coping just fine. The diecast one it replaced was badly corroded.
