Outside tap not on straight

I know this is a very old thread but in case someone is looking for the right answer then you need one of these: then you don't need all that messing around with tape etc.

This is good stuff and not as expensive as Locktight.

Past on so that tao is straight. Can be still loose. Give 5 mins and it will be watertight and will not move

Has Bosswhite been improved? I thought at one time you had to use hemp with it, and with hemp it was no good for gas, as porous.
No idea, tbh I only looked it up as I thought you couldn’t use boss white on potable water (seems TP website could be inaccurate), we used to use boss green for this purpose.

I know I’m bringing up an old thread, but can anyone tell me what this adapter is called please? I’m having a nightmare with an outdoor tap not screwing on straight, so it has to stop before the end of the thread is reached, and no amount of PTFE tape and LS-X is sealing the join. Fibre washers I have don’t fit. I just want to get one of these adapters and be done with it. Thanks.

Thanks. It seems my latest attempt with PTFE and LS-X is working, so hopefully this will work now. I had to wrap the PTFE around about 30 times, which is much more than everyone seemed to say reading about it. But the tap is a 3 quarter turn off being fully tight so I guess that much was needed to keep the seal, who knows. Anyway hopefully this works now.
