The lady of the house would like a light over the mirror in our bedroom (god knows why  ) could anyone recommend a site or brand i can look at as i am not savvy on lighting , ideally not to expensive .
Are lihgts of this ilk fed with 1.5 mm cable just to get a feel for the channel i need to chisel , cheers howy

The style and brand would really be person choice, that could be a decision for SHMBO.
But generally you will find the above mirror lighting will come under bathroom mirror or picture lighting. Tesco Direct do something for about £30.
You will find 1.00mm twin and earth will be ample for this type of lighting but 1.5mm can be used. The feed can come from either a spur from a socket outlet, this will need down fusing using a fused connection unit and a suitable rated fuse, this information (installation method) should come with the item when bought but likely to be a fuse rating of near 3 to 5A, or the feed can be taken from the lighting circuit.
Remember when installing the cable to keep to permitted safe zones

and note the requirements of RCD protection on additions and extensions of existing circuits, that is if your current system does not already allow for this.
