Hey peeps got a B&Q Waterville PIR lantern in the garden, We wanted to put a over ride switch in so if we are in the garden we can turn it on permanently as it doesn't work with the OFF ON OFF ON method,

So thought that If I take a feed from the power in run that to a switch then that to the light it would by pass the PIR when turned on, So did all that and now the PIR doesn't work so is either off or on with the switch. I havent moved any of the original wiring thou,

Any one got any ideas????

What I normally do is wire a DP FCU as the first switch, then you can isolate the external wiring effectively in the event of a fault.

Bernardgreen that is prity much what I have done I believe,

Talking to step son who is an aprentice sparky he thinks it could be the PIR unit has failed

Got to say im no sparky so dont get too technical lol

Difficult to say in what capacity the PIR has failed when it still works to a degree.

Can you post a diagram of your wiring?

Apart from a missing N and E to the lamp that seems OK.

So the light is only operating with the switch and not the passive?

Opps yeah forgot about the N, but it hasnt got an Earth,

Been out and had a play and it looks like it works, Maybe I wasn't covering it good enough or something silly Cheers for your support its good to know what I was doing was correct
