Typically how long must you wait before painting new external redering (roughcast) and what is the best type of paint to use, oil-based or water-based ?
I would wait until a spell of dry weather if possible (spring!) to give the moisture in the walls and the render a good chance to dry out. The best type of paint is something from the weathershield/sandtex type range. It is mormally waterbased and allows the wall to breath getting rid of any moisture. Oil based will seal in any moisture so i would avoid it.
