Painting over linseed oil putty

I've putty pointed some windows using linseed oil putty.

Can I paint over this type of putty using a water based paint? For the record I have some water based zinsser exterior allcoat.

The putty doesn't seem to indicate anything, all it says is allow 7 days to dry before painting. It's the traditional linseed oil multipupose glazing putty from wilkos.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I always wait 2 weeks to get as stable as possible , as it’s oil based putty then oil based paints are needed.

After a couple of weeks you will probably find that birds have pecked holes in the putty finish, it gives them glossy feathers .

On the last tub of putty I looked at I'm sure it suggested waiting 6-8 weeks before painting to let it cure

I've already got the paint and its water based. Wished they'd indicated that on the putty that the paint must be oil based. What if i put some oil based undercoat primer over the putty and then paint over with water based paint?

Im sure you can paint over oil based paints with water based paint...no?
