Hi All,

I hope someone might be able to give me their opinion about the following.

A few months ago I installed a new loft hatch, the visible surface of the trapdoor is coated with a matt textured "plasticy" coating, which, on the packaging was described as "paintable". I would ideally like to paint the trapdoor with the same Dulux soft sheen emulsion that I used on the ceiling, so that it blends in as much as possible.

Please can anyone offer any advice as to whether I should be able to paint this with emulsion, or if it needs any special preparation first?

Many thanks!

As its plastic the emulsion would struggle to cover it. Better use a satinwood or eggshell, oil based in the same colour to match your ceiling.
