Painting RSJ

Hi,

May I ask where this RSJ is?
Normally steels exposed in a domestic building would require half an hour of fire protection.
This is normally achieved by boxing in the beam with plasterboard, or using specialist intumescent paints.

Morning
Steel will be internal, supporting a beam and block floor... with another story on top.

So, is the beam in a void below the ground floor i.e. there are no rooms below it?

BC have stated they are happy with fire rated plaster board to be used around the RSJ.

So, back to my original question, is there any recommendation on what product to use to paint steel for rust protection?

Looking to pick up a few cans of this tomorrow >
Hammerite Rust beater Grey Iron Primer, 750ml | DIY at B&Q

Many places do not have stock of grey metal primers!

Traditionally they were always done in red oxide primer, but I would like to think any oil-based rust beating primer would be ok.
