About to build a new timber fence using tanalised timber. Although I'd prefer to leave it with a 'natural' look, because it's in some strange 1960s conservation area, it's got to be painted white.

Previously the fence was basically white glossed floorboards.

The tanalised timber comes as almost rough-sawn, so will need a bit of prep.

Any suggestions as to how to prevent the tanalised treatment bleeding through.
And what paint would be best?

The decorators on here will probably give you better advice but from my experience I've used pretty standard white oil based primer on tanalised timber with no problems and I've also used that silvery aluminium primer again without problems.
One thing I would advise though is to stack the timber somewhere to dry before painting it as moisture in the timber will pose a bigger problem than treatment.

Well some say that you should allow tanalised timber to weather prior to painting, yet some dont. I would firstly recommend the application of the aluminium primer prior to further decoration. So my advice would be to do a test area to ascertain whether the timber is ready to accept a paint film, yet my guess would be that you'll be fine.
