PARRALLEL CIRCUITS

No, they are wired in series, thats why bigger houses have dimmer lights, because there are more of them, but they needn't be as bright anyway, since bigger houses have bigger windows. Smaller houses feel dark and dingy, so their lights are brighter, as they have fewer, thus making the place feel bigger.

ARE DOMESTIC LIGHTING CIRCUITS WIRED IN PARALLEL?
a lighting circuit could be looked at as a series parallel circuit, the switch is in series with the lamp and the switch / lamp arrangement is parallel to the supply each pair of switch and lamp in a multi lighting circuit situation would be in parallel to each other.
