Party Wall Act - Urgent Query

That's what I said in my original post you quoted!

Someone in thread mentioned that this OP sends to relate to a boundary dispute not a straight forward PW matter.
As the OP is missing in action we are pointlessly arguing amongst ourselves now. It would seem that their query was not urgent after all. Or maybe they just didn't get the answer they were hoping for?

@wessex101. agreed. Apologies, it was me that suggested it looked like a boundary dispute and took the thread off at a tangent.

Not really off on a tangent. Many people think that a PW surveyor is there to deal with boundary issues because they are dealing with a wall or whatever on a boundary!

But in reality then - they just focus on the consequences of building work, one neighbour has on another neighbour? And the boundary simply distinguishes one property from the other?

I've always mediated well between neighbours, even those that don't like each other. Never seen the need for PWA and such like. But some builders can be ignorant arse 'oles.

Yes, the Act is often used for other reasons, other than its intended propose. Mainly to supplement an existing dispute, or just for the sake of being awkward when one neighbour is aggrieved with the planned work.

I think as a third party, builders as mediators can help with injecting some common sense into the situation. But is whether the neighbours want to listen.

A brown envelope always helps smooth the way.

We did a rear extension job whereby there was a pair of back-land houses built, down a private lane, adjacent to our job. I paid both occupants 'ground rent' in cash, to be able to use their lane for deliveries. There have been other instances regards terrace houses and alleyways etc.

Be polite, patient and respectful.
