Paslode Gas - expiry is really real?

I've just pulled out my leftover box of nails (is a handy pack with gas) as I'm redoing my deck frame. Noticed the box has an expiry (which I assume applies the gas). The date says JUN3018 which I assume is 30 June 2018 rather than 18 June 2030.

I'm hiring the actual nailer (IM350+).

Is it an expiry date or a date of manufacture?

I have a "gifted" IM350+.

I have not gotten around to using it yet. A customer had one, I gave him a discount on the cost of hanging doors in return for the IM350+ (he didn't want it).

Words are definitely 'expiry date'.

EDIT: even the gas itself has expiry on the bottom.

The expiry date is 2 years from manufacture. They say that you can use them after the stated date but there may be a pressure drop which results in misfiring. They recommend only purchasing as much gas as you actually need.

Gas does not expire. If there is gas in the can, it will work.

yeah the ones I have were bought in 2015 when I last hired - so in my case a looooong time ago! And since I'm hiring, I don't want to be responsible for buggering a near £700 tool or keep going back and forth for the sake of £50 for a double pack of new gas!
