Patio steps

I’m laying an Indian sandstone patio but the steps are uneven and not parallel as well as having a big step down from the French doors. The plan is to lay slabs on top and render the side and front faces but is it possible to first add more concrete to extend the bottom step to make them all even? It would only be by a few inches but was worried this might not adhere properly to the existing stuff. If not I could lay extra bricks attached to them but assume this might have the same problem with breaking off in time. Any help would be appreciated

You could probably get away with tamping the soil down and laying concrete to earth but the better way is to chop out snd remake the steps which will blend in better with the new sandstone. Do the steps or proposed flags bridge the dpc?

Face the step with a row of bricks or brickon edge. Cut back the step as necessary to fit these in and square up the steps. You'll need a small foundation for the first step.

Those existing steps are lethal.

You need your fist tread up by the sill and at least four steps down from there. It's almost worthy of two small dwarf walls either side of the doors, steps and some sort of rail.

I was thinking of raising the top step by one brick so that will still be around 100mm below the DPC. If not maybe taking the whole lot out and starting again with breeze block might be easier

Yeah I’d want to do it properly, might have to look into the regs for this. I know damp proof course is a factor but it would be a big step down from the door

It's more to do with a hand rail really.
