Thanks I really didn’t expect that in depth response! Wished it would of come sooner whilst I had it all apart this morning

from your photos a few things are of interest
My new wax capsule is different to the old one. The new one doesn’t have the black bit on the end. But still has the same shape and size tho. Maybe a modified part

I looked at your capsule and I’m not sure if the bottom part has a oring on it! The one I took out didn’t. Just a flat washer

from your other photo I can see you have a washer and a oring. Would that oring sit inside the chamber where the wax capsule goes? That’s why I didn’t see it.

also the other washer I found on the boiler floor I’ll upload a photo of this too. I took this back out because of the boiler locking out!

not ever sure where this washer went!

You'll either find an o ring still lodged in the brass front section of the diverter...or the missing o ring is the one you found on the floor.
All the seals/parts are essential.

IMHO its futile buying just the element...without the appropriate seals it's a lottery whether you'll get a leak.
In adddition that company selling those elements has a reputation for cobbling together any old parts whether they are actually correct or not.

Hi

I didn’t find an oring I found a washer!

I also couldn’t find any other part! (The replacement front end) so I had no choice to replace the capsule.

fingers crossed this time I have no leaks and I keep getting hot water and ch :)

In the last picture on the right..it looks like an O ring that's undergone compression set ie. it's flattened.

I’ve just looked at it! I thought it was metal but it’s just broke. So maybe you’re right.

I just wonder which part it is from your diagrams! The part I removed from the front of the diverter valve? That was never opened anywhere near the boiler! So it’s virtually impossible for me to find it on the boiler floor directly below it.

so that rules out the o ring that inside the diverter valve head?

But let’s just say for arguments sake it is the o ring that was in the the diverter valve head. Which would make sense because that oring would get squashed the most when the wax capsule goes in.

So my question is. It’s not leaking at the moment. Shall I just leave it well alone? Or get that oring and take it all apart again and insert it in the correct position?

would you know what size that o ring is? For future reference? It’s it’s designed to have one there at some point it’s going to fail again :(

The more I think about it the more I think it’s this one
