I'm in the process of planning to replace my kitchen doors and so on and I was surprised to find that the pelmet on top of my wall units is not a standard pelmet / rail arrangement but a large flat board that is the full depth and length of the wall units. The run is a bit of an awkward length as its just over 3m which means I'd need a join somewhere with a typical pelmet / rail as they all seem to be 3m.

I'm curious if this arrangement is typical / what this board is called if I was to look for it for the refurbishment. No faffing about with mitre cuts either!

Looks like a decor board to me. Normally sold to cover ends of runs of cabinets

Thanks, so a big end panel then? Most end panels I see are 18mm thick (same as the doors) whereas this is thicker.
