Pergola, level or follow the fall of the land?

Erecting a pergola which will straddle a 25ft path. Fall on the path is eight inches for the 25 ft. (a noticeable fall!!) Do I follow the fall or set the longitudinal timber level resulting in the posts being eight inches taller at one end. I’m erring on level but wonder which would look better, any advice?

If it's a pathway then follow the land, if it's for sitting in then keep it level
