Petrol/Diesel ban from 2040

I've been in a Tesla too, round a sprint circuit called Curborough. It was a Model S which I think is the slow one.

It lapped in 28 seconds and my 270bhp Golf was lapping in 30 seconds.

They are insanely fast for a milk float!!

That's the big advantage of electric motors... Naturally the downside is how quickly the batteries run down at warp speeds.. that and how long the recharge time is...

The obsolescence is a concern. Tesla are still finding their way and aren't yet profitable. About 1/3rd of Tesla models have been discontinued.

Interesting to read that Toyota are looking at using hydrogen fuel cells as they have developed one for automotive use.. obviously the big down side is the production of hydrogen

Charging at home is damned cheap, and I think they'll force down the commercial charge points so that take up is more acceptable.
That won't last long. The government will be looking for something to replace the income lost from fuel taxes, so you can bet your boots electricity prices will skyrocket.

I think the charge points charging higher fees are in areas where you'd be paying higher car parking fees. The fee is intended to cover both.

I like the idea of being able to charge the car using some DIY nutty professor style method. If a guy can charge his iphone using a piece of fruit (see youtube), I can charge my future electric car using a compost heap. The worry is will they engineer all these system controls to prevent that sort of thing? In which case it sort of flies in the face of what we've been told about trying to be sustainable and less of a burden to the grid.

Leccy cars were is the noise ? the sound of a V8 , V6 ??

The hailwood hondas , the V twin harleys , MV agusta's .

An Electric Ferrari , maserati, Mustang, Dodge Viper, Bugatti etc etc does not quite cut it imho

dull & boring like noseall :) dare say we will be hearing about the Russians in a while  or some other nonsense he will post up

probably has his hats custom made doubt if any thing off the peg would fit his big ead :)

The latest Prius has a solar panel on the roof, and that could be extended to the whole surface of the car.

Hydrogen.

As Hydrogen isn't a naturaly occuring gas, you need to produce it from either sea water, or oil; not sure what the waste product would be from the left over oil would be though- nor where it would go. And as you get water vapour out of the exhaust from a Hydrogen car, how long before we get fog filled cities.

Leccy cars were is the noise

I expect there'd soon be a phone apps to give you the sort of engine noise you want.

You could always buy a Mclaren P1 if that's your thing. Or something similar.

Transam - the most repetitive poster on DIYnot considers him/herself interesting.

(Noseall now expects a plethora of nonsense posts from Transam, referring to either boredom, Trump, Russians, washing machines etc, following any posting in any thread on GD and having no relevance to that thread).

YOU are the epitome of dull boyo.

Bit harsh noseall :)

You need to remember Noseall that I am retarded ;) Something u spotted a good while back prior to me telling u I was retarded ;) and u were right (y)

No flies on u Noseall

That's easy to solve.... The Irish have green diesel so that the diesel dippers can check that the right duty is paid... We will have green electricity to alert the customs and excise if we are using the wrong electricity
