I left my only key in my trousers the other day and the van will not now open or close remotely. Not a problem normally, except non of my locks work. The drivers side spins and the passenger side is now also spinning when i put the key in there. The back door lock doesn't move at all.

So i have a van which i can't lock at this moment in time.

It is old at 13 years, but goes fine.

Any ideas on how i sort this out ? Will the key come back to life ? Can you replace all the door locks easily or is it a specialist job.

Van is a peugeot partner.

You'll probably find the locks are OK - its usually the barrels that fail. These are available as a keyed alike set,£50 maybe) and the barrels are held by a dead awkward clip on the back.
However - open your remote and get the hair drier in there, and maybe give it a new battery.
Sorry if this post is a bit late

I don't understand what being in his trousers did to the keys!

I was going to say to rinse the key but I imagine it got rinsed and spun dry in the machine!

Try squirting a good dose of WD40 or similar into the key holes, leave it for a bit and then give them a workout, may need several attempts. With remote central locking the mechanical locks rarely get used and stick. I had this problem recently with a 406 neither lock would work, just went round like yours, I gave it the treatment and they are both fine now.

The key is now back working !!!!!

Peugeot say the barrels turn because they don't recognise my key as they have never really been used as it is always done by the key fob.

So the solution for the future is to get a set of new barrels and have a separate key for them.

Prices at peugeot were £80 per barrel plus £75 fitting. I am going to go to europarts and see what price they charge. You can get these barrels on eBay as well.

I've had 2 Peugeots and a Citroen and have never put the key in the door lock. If your keys have never been used , the locks and keys should both be unworn and should recognise each other , surely?

The ignition and key recognise each other, but the door barrels keep turning round and round without anything unlocking. Whether these are just defective now i don't know. Van is 13 y/o. Guy at peugeot said what he said.
