I use the light switch, lights turn on when time to get up. Wife uses mobile phone, it plays silly music when time for her to get up, difference is it does not wake her. One morning I did try the bed adjustment switches, she was near bent double before she woke up. Be it noise, movement or light it's down to the person what will wake them. And we adjust ourselves to respond so certain sounds, music often will not wake people, but a bell even when a lot lower volume will.
I assume the "socket and see" tester produces a whine very like a phone, and a simple timer with turn it into an alarm, could even plug in the vacuum cleaner although some safety concerns there. With my kettle switching it off on the wall means it will switch off at kettle so can't really set it up for morning cupa. I looked at electric whistling kettles silly prices. But I still have an original teasmaid.
Mother is still my best alarm clock, when she gets up, then no option I get up.
