Using a wireless router, the phone (Samsung S2) can see it fine. But there's no wireless router here.
Like in a hotel where they give you a net lead to plug in to a laptop..

I want the phone to see a laptop, and the net though it. I can set up a local ad-hoc net on laptop1, and laptop2 can see it fine, and share the internet.

So I have
Net------cable---[cable modem]---[laptop1]-(( {wireless adhoc I called BLOD, told it to use Key Blodkey}
and
laptop2-(( {wireless sees BLOD and I Connect, using Blodkey}
All fine.

How can I make the phone see the ad-hoc link? It can see a couple of neighbour's routers etc.
Same with both laptops - phone can't see either, when roles reversed.

I tried making Blod public and home - no difference.
Obviously Laptop 1 is set to Share internet connection.

Thanks, but that's what I've done. It must be right-ish, because the other laptop can see it. But not a phone. (Either of two phones).

I have heard that android doesn't support adhoc networks.

I have seen the following recommended a few times

Www.mhotspot.com

Haven't used it personally though.

Alternatively just carry a real router with you and plug the ethernet into it.

Iirc ad-hoc is point to point only. I.e 2.

Why can't you get a wireless router?
