When I did the floor and skirting, I took a phone cable from the back of the master socket (as normal) and ran it round behind the skirting to the other side of the room to keep things tidy (that's where the main sockets/router etc are).
About 6 months ago we had a mystery phone issue that turned out to be one/both of the wires in use in the extension cabling failing.
No problem; I just switched to another pair of wires in the cable.
Now those have failed.
I can probably find another pair that will work in the same cabling, but for how long?
Can't really see why the cable (new) is failing like this.
