Probably faulty sensor, or maybe low voltage at the sensor.
Test the voltage with a meter and you should get 12-13 volts.
If voltage ok then replace sensor, cutting each core close to where it is connected to the sensor (so as not to short circuit anything and you will also be able to see what colour goes where)
