Well folks, I thought I'd resurrect this once popular feature.

This is a light switch.

It supplies the light in a toilet, and also the extractor fan.

Earth used as a live core, too much exposed copper showing on the black core in the switch

And it was put up by someone too lazy to remove the switch and do it properly.

You raise a good point, with a drywall box, where does the paper go, done properly? Behind the box, or just behind the switch?

Same as with a metal box in a brick wall - behind the switch.

Remove the switch.

Join cables with choc (or just make safe if you don't want the light on)

Tuck everything into the box and cover with a square of gaffer tape to keep the paste off.

Paper.

When the paper is dry, carefully cut around the inside edge of the box with a scalpel.

Re-fit the switch.

Twisted solid earth wires.
Not too sure about that, good or bad,

They must have died laughing... nice deep box though, thats the only plus.

I HATE twisted solid conductors.
