Pipe & fittings for new thermostatic shower

So I'm installing a new shower with thermostatic valve in my bathroom. The pipes that fed the old shower are grey pushfit pipes (speedfit?). The new shower valve is quite a weighty unit with no screw holes for mounting or anything, so I'm guessing will have to be supported by the pipes themselves. What shall I use? I have never soldered so was thinking of using compression fittings and rigid plastic pipe? Can this be connected to the 'bendy' speedfit grey pipes OK?

They are screwed into the tile and wall around the hole where the pipe comes through the wall. If its a stud wall, make sure you use a wooden noggin behind the plasterboard where the pipes pass through and poss use longer screws.

These are good because they don't rely on the pipes to support the shower valve, which can sometimes be a hefty chunk of brass. They also have push-fit connectors to connect the pipe to them. You can push copper or plastic pipe (with the correct inserts) straight into the back of these fittings.
