Title pretty much sums it up. I have a bay window ceiling which has artex coating and unsure whether it contains asbestos, therefore may need to skim over or put plasterboard up and skim. Thing is, I don’t want to be using angle beads as that will then jut out onto adjoining wall making it necessary for me to plaster the walls as well. Any ideas gratefully received.

Just blend it in as best you can with the angle edge and sand back once it’s dry. No difference to blending in some electric chasing out.
