Good evening,

I have a problem whereby the plaster is crumbling around the flue of my wood burning stove creating a large hole and debris is falling down from the chimney.

Please note I am a complete novice when it comes to diy never mind plastering.

Any advice on how I can tackle this would be appreciated.

Pics attached to this post.

Thanks.

Its not clear where the pic is taken from? Could you take pics of the top of the stack and the plate above the stove?

Thats great i will end up investing in one of these but at the moment i am more concerned in how i go about repairing the current damage to allow me to fit one.

There is supposed to be clearance between the flue and the register plate to which a fire rope is fitted and filled with fire cement or similar. Anything else will dry out and crumble away.
