Hi,

I've had a kitchen wall damp problem. Partly bridged cavity/penetration which I've solved (thanks to help from the people here!). Also condensation which caused a line of black mould.

The mould was on a brick wall hidden behind dot and dab plasterboard, behind units, sink and appliances. The plasterboard was wrongly in contact with the solid floor.

The units have been ripped out for a refit and there wont be anything snug up against the wall any more (as the new ones are freestanding and mostly in an extension). To solve the condensation I've added a radiator and an extraction fan.

The thing is, I'm still not sure if I can go ahead and batten standard plasterboard on? Or if I will have to accept it needs a cement based render with a water proof additive.

Wouldn't the battens/plasterboards be blocking ventilation (which I understand I need to avoid condensation)?

Thanks!
