I have built a false chimney around an existing chimney to house a recessed tv and a second recess above the tv to be used for ornaments and so on
My question is that I have built the stud work intentionally too far apart height wise for the top shelf. The intention is that the top facing plasterboard will overhang the top batten and create a 'lip' of about 20mm behind which I can hide an LED strip in a 45 degree aluminium extrusion to illuminate the inside of the shelf without seeing the light. Will the amount of over hang be ok when plastered? Obviously the screws will be just above the 20mm from the edge into the batten, and it will be fixed onto the side battens too at each end. Will a plasterer be able to skim over the edge of the board and make a nice sharp corner as if they were skimming any other corner?
