Plasterboarding over paramount

Turns out I've got that bloody paramount (egg box stuff) board in my house. I have looked through a thousand forums for ways to deal with it and ultimately it all comes down to knocking it down and building a stud wall. Not an option for me though.

My question is - can I screw and/or glue acoustic plasterboard directly onto the paramount wall, and then skim the plasterboard? I.e. will it hold or will the plasterboard eventually just come off?

Cheers

Well soundproofing a wall you need to use resilient bars and make sure the acoustic plasterboard don't touch the sides like floor and walls. The board should float.
If I was doing it on the cheap I'd use some 3mm packers along floor and wall and leave 3mm gap at ceiling and stick board on with foam.
When dry pull packers so board don't touch floor, walls and ceiling then fill around gap with acoustic mastic.
Skim wall.
Foam will stop the sound traveling through and the 3mm gap around board will also stop sound.
Not really how it should be done but will do something.
If you dot and dab board on existing wall I believe it will do nothing noticeable to prevent sound.
Board adhesive is too solid. Great for sound transfer

Good job I asked. Thanks for that.
I take it then that the foam will be sufficient to hold the plasterboard?

Yeah. Foam will hold board.
