Hi, my house built in 1964 has what looks like copper pipe for the waste, what can I use to connect it to a 40mm plastic waste pipe?
I don't know if there was a standard size pipe used in 1964 but this pipe is a little under 34mm.

Cheers for the reply.
Just measured the copper pipe with a vernier caliper and its 34.72mm or 1.367" . So obviously a 1 1/4" converter would be to small but would a 1 1/2" be to big?
I've got a rubber converter with jubilee clips joining the two pipes together at the moment but because the end that goes on to the copper pipe is larger I can't get it to stop dripping!

use McAlpine multifit range, S28M for 1.25" for whb's and T28M 1.5" for bath, shower and kitchen sinks

Fixed it! Used one of Marleys 32mm couplings (length of rubber with two jubilee clips). Its made for 38mm - 32mm but easily slids over the 40mm pipe when soaked in hot water.
