PLEASE !!! Potterton

He's gone off to buy bits !!!! not talking too much at the moment. Tis the season to be JOLLY

Personally I think the Bentalls shopping centre seems quite appealing at the moment, but with three kids in toe could turn out to be more stressful.

Oh he's just come back ! I think a large bacon sandwhich and a big mug of tea in order ! will keep fingers crossed.

dont think them parts will get you going!
dont put in fernox until its working in case you need to drain again and lose it.

Im not too confident either, allthough on the whole he is a wizz. Me thinks if I have heating and hot water by Christmas I need to start praying to the virgin mary. Really ****ed off now as I thought the new diverter valve would do the trick, and so it did for three blissful days. If any one knows any good potterton puma 80e specialists in the Surbiton, surrey area then please post, JUST IN CASE

I think that its the auto air vent that needs changing or perhaps just the cap loosening?

ChrisR on here knows all about Pumas and he is also in Surrey. But he says Surrey is a large county!

It might have been better to have called him at the beginning!

Tony

Oh great to have you back Tony :D Well I could'nt agree more about getting John in the first place. We are in that surburban surbiton place ! Now what and where is the automatic air vent ? and how can it be checked. I think John mentioned somewhere today that he has the FLU

If you mean John Brooks ( Croydon CORGI ) then he is in Croydon.

But I said Chris !

The AAV is at the top on the left and is to remove air from inside the boiler as you have reported a wooshing sound!

Tony

Thanks Tony, Will check automatic air valve and if all fails would love to have details for Chris PLEEEASE ! Fingers are turning blue

Just a couple of questions !!! The heating is going the rads are getting hot.

When venting the pump at the front, should the boiler be on or off ? we are getting some hissing out of it and a bit of water. Do we keep doing this till the hissing stops ?

The boiler is much quieter now and appears ok.

The air vent at the top is open, should it be ? we go and get another aav just to be on the safe side.

There is a red knob to the right of the pump with a number 3 and an arrow, it only turns clockwise according to my husband, is this correct at what setting should it be ?

Many many thanks

I'm about 2 miles from you, and it is I who have the effin FLU!
Email in profile.
I've got all the bits for pumas.

Once the water's coming from pump screw, that's all you need to do.

Yes the air vent at the top should have its cap loose.

Don't go touching red knobs! That's a pressure relief valve which should be left alone. It doesn't have a "setting".

Dear Chris,
Thank you Well the heating is going !!!!!!!!! the pressure gauge is not dropping, it is set just past (1) so will keep and eye on it. The old one was definately bust, not sure what difference this would have made.
The boiler is currently running at the quietest EVER. We have this fermex F1 stuff, NOW should we use this ? if so how ? or should we wait a few days and just see how things go ?

The priority in the new year is a new boiler. When I add up over the years what we've spent on flogging a dead donkey I could cry. Please everyone live and learn ( a HOLIDAY OR HEAT AND HOT WATER)

Thanks to everyone that has helped us, has renewed my faith in mankind.
CHRIS may I suggest the following recipe; two measures of RUM the juice of 1whole lemon or lime, two crushed paracetamol and sugar to taste !!! keep going with them, if you don't get better at least you will feel better from the alcohol !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice. Got some shopping to do so clear of booze, except that's what I buy people these days - so much simpler!

Just mend the boler, and take the holiday. I've not so far seen a Puma which had to be scrapped.
