ply under bath

I have put 12mm exterior ply under bath, what would be best to seal the ply or to make it a bit more water proof?

there should be no practical problem having ply under a bath - there should be no prolonged periods of water "pooling".

as a precaution the simplest i can think of is either several coats of dilute pva say 1:1 or varnish

i that case you had better do the floor around the outside of the bath then, as it will see a heck of a lot more water.

well yes i realize that. The difference being i can see the floor outside the bath, but once sealed in i wont see under the bath should i get drips in the future

Should have used WBP. My local timber merchant sells only WBP - so he claims.

Keep an eye on the ceiling below

Why what? If why WBP then if there are drips it does not need protecting. Though if done correctly there should not be drips.

If - why does my local merchant claim he only sells WBP - I don't have any idea.

PVA was mentioned but I thought PVA was water based so if it gets wet does it not then cease to protect?

Nothing like being confident with your plumbing skills Why dont you fit a shower tray under the bath waste and connect it to the drain for the bath ?

That way, should any of the fittings under your bath taps or waste leak it will simply drip into the shower tray

Then again, what if the shower tray waste also leaks ???? Oh bugger this is getting realy complicated now...
