Is hand tight enough for the nut on a polypipe fitting or is a tweak with a pair of grips warranted?

What’s asked for in the instructions? I’ve done hand right before and been fine, but instances where I’ve had to nip up with grips.

Because they leaked when tested, usually after I’ve cleared a blockage and the washer has been strained.

In my own house, I have a bath trap I’ve undone several times, remade hand tight and had no issues.

Sorry, you’re confusing it now. If it’s push fit, then just make sure the end of the pipe is free of any sharp edges by filing a chamfer, insert and done. Making sure it’s clipped where necessary.

The nuts on the push fit poly pipe fittings should just be hand tight, they don't need any tools.
