pond pump cable

I wish to extend the cable on my pond pump and filter, whats the best way to do it.

What type of cable is there to the existing pond pump?

I would look at epoxy resin lined heat shrink with either crimped of western role and solder connections but much depends where the joint is.

I think I'd have the pump out of the pond and replace the cable completely. It depends, of course, on the condition of the existing underwater seal.

I'd suggest either an inline joint connector which is specifically designed to be waterfproof, or a suitably waterproof plug and socket (probably more convenient).
One possible option, there are many others.

There is one thing to be aware of, some pumps may have a Hermetically Sealed mains lead, which cannot be replaced at the pump end, the only was is to extend the old mains lead, with a proper joint mechanism.

Ever since the ipod was lanched over a decade ago, with its Hermetically Sealed battery, it's sadly noted that more and more Hermetically Sealed electronics are coming onto the market these days.
