Hi

Not sure if this is the right place.

When my bathroom was installed the installer did a really bad job at doing the silicone. I've attached a few pictures below.

What is the best way of remedying the silicone? Remove it then apply masking tape to achieve a straight line?

Also, what is the best way of applying silicone around a circular shape, in this instance my pedestal? Just to use a steady hand?

Thanks

You have my sympathy in scraping that mess off.

WD40 is effective at softening silicone and making it easier to remove.

Your tradesman obviously failed to appreciate that silicone is for filling crevices, not for blathering over the surface.

Cheers

That is most certainly not how a tradesman would have applied silicone, a cowboy yes but not a tradesman, looks like they have just gone over existing poorly applied silicone.

Fugi's are good and so are these: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/...ne-scraperapplicator-set?da=1&TC=SRC-silicone I just use the applicator tool the removal tools do not work as they should, the only thing is hard graft and time.

The silicone gel removers don't work, what u you end up with is silicone covered in goo, if you use WD40 on the silicone you will have to wash the edges down with sugar soap or other strong detergent because unless you do, masking tape will not stick to the tiles properly.

If you use masking tape i.e the cream coloured stuff don't leave it on for days remove it immediately you have siliconed and got the finish to your satisfaction.
