Poorly light

I got called out to a shop today, with a report of smoke coming out of a light fitting.

It was a 6' twin cat 2 surface fitting.

ah.. the main reason why the ones at my parents are nice see through green starters.. ( like the other one in the fitting.. )
you can't weld the contacts on the green ones.. :D
 
There will be a nice new HF fitting in it's place shortly. The ballasts don't look like they have got much life left in them either...
 
I sincerely hope you're not letting that starter go to waste.
 
What caused that to happen ?

The mains connector failed due to a bad connection between one of the white wires and the push fit connector, and I would guess the bi-metallic strip in the starter welded shut causing it to overheat.

Nice electronic ones - the DB's for ballast fittings :D
