Bit of background, in a hurry, aren't we always, jump in better half car (she's driving) bloody thing is dead as a dodo, flat battery, feel terrible as I don't have jump leads or a jump starter (I know what kind of an alleged man am I)

So, I hope I have now remedied for the future by buying a Clarke Heavy Duty JumpStart® 4000

Ok, so the cars only a 998cc, but if you're gonna kick it, kick it hard. Anyone any opinions on this purchase?

No opinion on any boost starter pack I’m afraid as I don't have one.....on every one I’ve come across the internal battery has been goosed anyway as its been unused for so long
I do have a great set of long jump leads though - truck size- so I call on them if need be.
John :)

Yes, I think I'll avail myself of those too. Needless to say my car is a jag, so battery is in the boot.

I usually drag out the caravan battery (which I keep charged) as it generally happens at home. But driving an old banger and doing very few miles I sometimes keep it in the boot in cold weather - I had a particularly bad time last year until I realised that my Bluetooth phone kit (that I had wired into a permanent live) was slowly drainage the battery.

I've read about these capacitor jump starters recently - does anyone have any experience of them?

I've had a trusty mains powered starter/charger for about 35 years bought, still works now as I had to try it a few years back, point being can you still get mains starters? Not much use when you're out and about mind. Cheaper to buy a decent new battery now I imagine.
