I did go down to Cornwall just before emigrating to Australia. Just to satisfy myself that Cornwall wasn't whst I wanted.

I had the connections. With hindsight I got that wrong.

First 5 years we were here it filled me with dread going back 'up country' for visits. These days I enjoy our breaks back to 'civilisation'. A lot of people move here and can't fit in, perceive hostility toward them or end up just plain bored and end up moving back.

Don't get me wrong, I love it here and am fortunate to have made a lot of friends but you can feel a bit cut off at times, I do enjoy my visits back to the hustle and bustle.

Living at my sisters for a few months, I tended to go to bed early (9 -10) to give them some space.
I'd put my headphones on and listen to my device (not an ipod then, I went for something else). Apart from buying downloads from Itunes, I'd download from them free Russian sites.
The pattern was I'd wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning with Led Zep 2 blaring away. The thing with the Russian download sites was that apart from the downloads requested, other spurious downloads would appear from nowhere.
Good on you for 'giving space'...

So what did you use to listen? Walkman, discman, Uher 232?

Pretty sure it was a 'Realtek', quite chunky with a metal case, bloke who worked in PC world recommended it, it was a time when the screens were always breaking on the ipods.

Thats was my reasoning. Everything was to remote. I once did a 60 mile round trip just to replace a ballvalve.

One of the main. Reasons why I didn't like Brisbane is because it was to remote.
