I am trying to source a black or quite near to black, post formed worktop for a large reception desk in a main entrance foyer. The desk will be L-shpaed with the longest leg being around 7metres long and the shorter leg being 2.2 metres long. To keep the desks scale, the top needs to be around 50mm thick with a post formed double bull nose to the front and back edges.

I have a laminate sample from 'Formica' in their Granite colour but whilst the colour is ok, there are two main problems:-
1) The finish is not exactly glossy but it is far from matt and when the lights are switched on, which they would generally be in the foyer area, there is quite a glare off the surface of the sample piece which I have.
2) Every time you put your hands on the sample its leaves finger marks all over it and the sample already looks pretty shabby.

Has anyone any suggestions of suppliers for post formed tops, 50mm thick which has a matt finish and which will not show finger marks.

As always, I would be most appreciative of any responses or suggestions

Never seen post formed tops 50mm thick. 38/40mm is the norm with some makes now doing a limited range in 60mm thick. only way you will get 50mm is with solid surface material such as Corian, this can also be finished with a honed surface rather than polishing it right out.

Any truely matt surface will show marks just as much as high gloss

Have a look at the prima and omega ranges which come if differet surface finishes also the Getalit laminate comes in the thick sizes.
