Well everything you chaps have suggested is correct.
I did have an E board and I've been sold a P board. So the technical question is probably solved.
Now I just have to see if the shop will give me a free swap. If not I may try cutting that link.

Thanks for all your help. Fingers crossed it's problem solved ! :D

I may try cutting that link.

You may then be without some functionality provided by the extra components which you would have on an E board.. Could be a safety related thing - don't do it.

Kev the E boilers have separate ignition pcb board behind the modulator board

and trust me cutting link 1 is fine i am a potterton Engineer and have been doing it for years without any problems whatsoever :P

All very well for Doitall to confirm Tuesday evening in Cricklewood, however when he last spoke to me he was not sure for certain that he would be there. He seemed to be muttering something about a "boss".

We all know that Doitall is really the boss and after 46 years at it that is not surprising! If DP can make it all the way from Scotland then DIA has not excuse at all.

PS Kevin, Chris has become an expert in puma pcbs and he has full lists of all the variants and the different components populating the various examples. Only problem he has not yet worked out what these extra components do. The additional capacitor is presumably a different time constant but for what?

Tony I wont know till Monday if the guys brought the parts back from Germany on Friday or not.

But rest assured I shall do my best to get there 8) 8)

In the extreme, leave early with a headache and drive to Cricklewood that afternoon, I will provide a bed overnight and yuo will be sick on wednesday!

After 46 years in the industry surely you deserve one day sick ???

Tony

Dan offered a me a room for the night m8, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Not at all, I've never seen the earliest board , and I just happen to have one of each of the new ones here. There is no problem with not having worked the functions out, I don't need to!

A bit like saying its ok to cross the road without looking because you haven't been hit.
Is it a Potty official directive? If not, ask yourself why!

" I am a potterton Engineer and have been doing it for years "

At the Gas Installer Live I was given a t-shirt which says on the front " I GET IT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING".

On the back it says " AND LAST THING AT NIGHT". It then goes on to mention a shed like Number 2.

DIA, If Dan has offered you just a room then I will offer you a LARGER room with breakfast as well!

Sounds good to me as Kev would say.

However two things come to mind.

A. Dan has already offered and it would be rude to turn him down in favour of you.

B. He has a charming and Beautiful wife that in true Japanese tradition has made me very welcome in the past, and it's always a pleasure and a privilege to meet her.

Trainee,

Value your friends one day you will need them.

its not potty directive as you say because they dont want you messing about with boards full stop.
but then again its not ok to fit reconditioned pcbs but how many of you have done that :?: now that is modifying the appliance :!:
